TAKTSANG MONASTERY (The Tiger’s nest)

It is a must see tourist place if you are visiting Bhutan.

Taktsang or the Tiger’s nest is the most sacred place in Bhutan. It was built in 1600s; this extraordinary monastery clings to the edge of a sheer rocky cliff that plunges 900 meters into the valley below. History states that Guru Rimpoche the second Buddha who brought Buddhism to Bhutan landed here on the back of a flying tigress. The trail to the monastery is an uphill climb that pierces through Pine forests, trees festooned with Spanish, moss and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags. Then you will commence until you reach the heavenly abode, from where words are not enough to describe the beauty but experiencing is the only  way.
